Pinned topic Synthetic transaction agent - Historical data collection.

‏2017-03-24T15:33:05Z |

Hi, I'm using the APM Synthetic Transactions agent to monitor a couple of websites, and we would like to keep the history for longer than the 12 hours that I can see in the UI. I know there is data kept locally in the warehouse, as there is the option to compare against previous days. We have a customer who would like to use the data to display the service availability for up to one year. What are my options?

From memory, I don't there is the option to offload the data to the ITM warehouse.

Cheers

Dan

Hi, afaik there are a couple of options, but I will bring some others into the conversation also to comment:
You could use reports - afaik, data is retained for 1 year.

There could also be an option to send data to TDW, I'm not sure if this is supported for synthetics:

First the UI can only allow user to see the data for last 24 hours at most, and the monitoring data is kept only 24 hours in MongoDB.

If the customers want to see more longer data, they can use history data in Cognos report which is available in SaaS version.   If they installed the On-Premise agent, they have to install and integrate Cognos report server locally.  Copy JueJie here, if you want to know more details about the reporting.

Hi, thanks for the replies. I'm running the On-Premise version of APM, I see in the docs that the Synthetic agent is not supported for warehousing to the ITM database. https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSHLNR_8.1.3/com.ibm.pm.doc/install/integ_tdw_agents.htm

We use Grafana to display a lot of monitoring data in our department, we use logstash to obtain the data from the warehouse, I guess we could do the same with the Synthetic agent, assuming I can find out where it is on the APM server.

     Hello,

I am looking for web monitoring and reports with syntethic transaction, also 5 years of retention about availability , can APM 8.1.3 works  for this porpuse?

I see that link Kay mentioned (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSHLNR_8.1.3/com.ibm.pm.doc/install/cognos_syn_reports.htm) talks about reports but, where can I configure data retention on APM 8.1.3?,

I am confused about Carmel says "history data they can use history data in Cognos report which is available in SaaS version", so on premise not allowed to configure history data? what are the options?

If I use ITM, ISM agent and TDW can I see historcal information trough APM 8.1.3?

I am concerned about APM 8.1.3 and IBM monitoring 8.1 depends alot on old versions of ITM.

Hope someone can help me to understand how this newest version works.

    thanks in advance!
