Pinned topic DB2 Express C Install problem

‏2014-05-29T15:18:41Z |

Hi - I am trying to install DB2 Express C on my Windows 7 m/c using DB2 setup wizard, but it is giving me error as "The username ibm does not conform to DB2 naming rules. You may experience authentication problems when using DB2 product after the installation is completed". I have changed the windows account name to ibmadmin and then after installation also the same message is coming. This iuser is definitely having Administrative privilege so not sure what is the problem with user naming rule here.

How to get this resolved, I do not want to create another user because the desktop, files etc. will be separately created for that new windows user again.

I tripped on that one once as well...

User, user ID and group naming rules

    • User names, group names, and authorization or user IDs cannot:
      • Be USERS, ADMINS, GUESTS, PUBLIC, LOCAL or any SQL reserved word
      • Begin with IBM, SQL or SYS.

You cannot have any user name starting with IBM what Luke mentioned, did this help you ? may be while installation you can try " localuser " and complete the installation
