Pinned topic Data Studio Web Console control port

‏2013-04-22T17:07:03Z |

I am referring to the port which by default is set to 11088 (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/dstudio/v3r2/topic/com.ibm.datatools.db.web.health.install.doc/topics/dshm_install_wizard_or_console.html), and is called the "Default control port:".

What is it used for?  I thought it would be something akin to the WebSphere Administrative Console port, but all I get when I connect to http://localhost:11088 is "ACTIVE".  I tried http://localhost:11088/ibm and http://localhost:11088/ibm/console as well, but I am not getting anywhere.

The 'control' port (also known as the status port'  (see: Config/dswebserver.properties for the list of ports used)   is used internally by some of the command line programs to check on the status of the server.

Its not meant to be used for accessing the Data Studio Web Console  application or for any other purpose.  You would use the http port (port= entry in dswebserver.properties)  or https port (https.port) only.
