Pinned topic Resource Registry alias in .mdq

Do resource registry aliases work in the the executionsource, user and password settings in .mdq files?

Some WTX release notes mention this:

"When using the resource registry for database aliases defined in the database/query file (.mdq) or command line, you should define the alias in the Global section of the resource registry for both Command Server and Launcher."

I cannot get this to work, could any please confirm?

    It is not possible to use resource registry in MDQ file fields.

    I was confused because quite some release notes for WTX V8.1 and V8.2 contain the paragraph that I mention in my original post, like:

    The older release notes links does appear to be incorrect.  I searched WTX 8.3.0.x release notes and above, and no longer see the above information being referenced.  I then searched the Resource Registry online documentation, and from the following link, it could be that we meant a resource registry alias name can be used to resolve the mdq_filename within certain functions:
