Pinned topic Workaround for 50 char limit in Attachments package

‏2013-10-01T19:25:14Z |

Is there a workaround to increase the filename size to greater than 50 for the attachments package?

I have a lot of attachments to import for an IMS migration, and I'd prefer not to have to rename all the files, and references in the respective databases.

If the attachments have to go to the ClearQuest database (even temporarily), there is no workaround. You can think of some creative ways to do it though. For example (not so creative) :

    1. Zip up the original document and give the zip file a name conformed to the 50-character-limit.

    2. Put the attachments on a FTP site and only reference the FTP links in ClearQuest. Note that you cannot use the Attachments 2.1 package for this purpose since the same limit applies.

Or you can write a validation hook (script) to rename the original attachment file name conformed to the 50-character-limit.

For example, crop the file name zu 50 character.
