Pinned topic Global variable displaying without leading zero

‏2013-06-12T18:46:55Z |

I am passing a global variable to the application, e.g. hatsgv_variable=012345

When I display the variable on the screen either as static text or in an input field the value returned is  12345 which has a blank where the zero should be.  This is being done server side because when I view the source I see the leading blank.  This is a problem in that misrepresents the value, because the leading zero (0) is significant.

I cannot believe that this is working as designed.  I've never seen anything in documentation that states that this will occur.  How can I stop this behavior?  I don't want to resort to adding Javascript to the page to fix this.

Cancel this request.  I found out that this global variable was being manipulated elsewhere unnecessarily and it was replacing the leading zero with a blank.
