Pinned topic For what is the Datasource Definition Type javax.sql.datasource ?

‏2013-08-06T06:48:14Z |

Hy

As I'm evaluating the liberty profile i found a unusual option in the datasource defnition type, which isn't aviable in the real application server.l

So if you define a data source in your server.xml with the type javax.sql.DataSource instead of javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource what happens?

A connection of a normal DataSource is per Definition in the JDBC Spec not poolable, as of the PooledConnection from the ConnectionPoolDataSource is poolable.

Thanks in advance

    Hi,

its used in cases where connection pool Datasource can't be used. Take a look at this:

    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21282204

Please note that the above link applies to WAS6.1. Thus,  support does exist for full profile as well.

    hope that helps

Can you clarify what you mean by "with the type javax.sql.DataSource"?  Can you show a sample configuration?
