Pinned topic Issues booting POWER LPARs with IBM_Installation_Toolkit_541.iso

‏2013-08-07T18:24:35Z |

On POWER5 and POWER7 servers, I have loaded IBM_Installation_Toolkit_541.iso into virtual media repository, and I am booting LPARs from this iso as virtual optical.  These LPARs previously were running AIX.  Why am I getting these errors?

On a POWER5 LPAR...

    Hi,

Probably you need to change your open firmware configuration.

POWER5 is not currently supported by IBM Installation Toolkit.

On POWER7, go to open firmware prompt (option 8 during boot) and run:

    printenv real-base

The value should be c00000. To set it to this value, run:

    setenv real-base c00000

This should make it work if the value. Also confirm load-base is 4000, run:

    printenv load-base

To reboot the system after the changes, run:

    reset-all

Let us know if that solves the issue.

Thanks Lucio, that was perfect.  I am moving forward on the POWER7.
