Pinned topic How to set "ready" drive for hot spare status

‏2013-04-03T03:09:40Z |
Hello fellow x-series,

I received from comment last couple of weeks as per below:

"The drive is just showing ready and needs to be assigned as HOT SPARE. You have 2 arrays setup in the system, a raid-5 and raid-1, need to set the ready drive to HOT SPARE status. No Hard drive needs to be replaced."

Any redbook or technical instruction that i can follow to accomplish this. Thanks.

You can assign hot spares under WebBios.

    Download ServeRAID M Software User's Guide: http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5086126

The User's Guide explains how to find the hot spare option.

Go to Section 4.6.3 and look at figure 4.52 (Physical Drive Screen). You'll see an option "Make Global HSP".

    Best,

    Al
