I used Update Manager on latest ISD 188.8.131.52 on AIX to update 4 VIOS from 184.108.40.206 to 220.127.116.11 (all latest code, ISD and VIOS).
ISD found that an update was necessary for VIOS, it staged the update correctly :
March 28, 2013 10:12:33 PM CET-Level:150-MEID:70767--MSG: ATKUPD686I The update "VIOS_18.104.22.168-FP26_SP01" has been staged for installation to "/opt/VIOS/update/VIOS/VIOS_22.214.171.124-FP26_SP01/" on the managed resource "p770-VIOS2" successfully. March 28, 2013 10:12:33 PM CET-Level:150-MEID:70767--MSG: ATKUPD633I The Installation Staging task has finished processing system "p770-VIOS2". March 28, 2013 10:12:33 PM CET-Level:150-MEID:0--MSG: ATKUPD630I The update installation staging has completed. March 28, 2013 10:12:33 PM CET-Level:150-MEID:70767--MSG: ATKUPD760I Start processing update "VIOS_126.96.36.199-FP26_SP01" and system "p770-VIOS2".
Then it hangs for ever at this step, and nothing happens on the VIOS.
From command line on VIOS, I could run the update by hand :
updateios -dev /opt/VIOS/update/VIOS/VIOS_188.8.131.52-FP26_SP01 -install -accept
It ran smoothly, but so long for automation with Sytems Director.
Can you figure out what happened ? I cannot afford installing VIOS to reproduce the problem.
