Pinned topic Regarding GC Policy selection

Hi friends,we deployed the application in websphere,we are using IBM Jvm,I want to choose the GC policy for the application,there are four GC Policy are available,In my team we will try four policy like trial and error method,we will choose one policy at last,it is killing our time,is there anyway to identify which gc policy suitable in the first attempt itself,

    Hi, can you describe what the application does?

    What factors are important to you? Raw speed? Interactivity?

    Based on that we can recommend a policy to start with.

    Its banking application,i want to give high throughput.this is my requirement

    For raw throughput, try -Xgcpoliy:optthruput Be aware that the GC pause times might be long, especially if you run with large heaps.

    You should also try -Xgcpolicy:gencon as this offers a good balance of throughput and GC pause times, especially for applications with transactional workloads.
