Pinned topic How to edit in RDZ a seq. dataset with packed decimal data ,no file manager

‏2013-03-19T09:23:11Z |
In this forum the same question was already discussed 6 years ago in " What's the "best practices" method of editing a dataset with packed-decimal data?" but , after many years , it seems that nothing is changed in this RDZ area. QUESTION is there anything new in last RDZ version about the editing sequential files containing decimal packed data ? or this topic is still addressed only by file manager ?
Many thanks in advance

I think IBM File Manager continues to be the solution, however, since it is not part of RDz anymore, you can download it from http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/deployment/pdtplugins/

Let us know if you see any drawbacks in IBM File Manager though as there could be room for improvement based on what your customer site requirements happen to be.

I know IBM File manager ( and related rDZ plugin) are the 'classical' way to solve this problem. I was just wondering if the recent RDZ had introduced a feature of this type for sequential files.

Hi. From: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/wikis/home?lang=en#/wiki/W2e35a50023ef_4b39_a867_04fb9e1d3329/page/Distance%20Learning%20Resources/attachments - (Page 2 of the wiki), you can download and read through a slide deck named: RDz Workbench - Using Remote Systems Explorer v85.ppt

This has a section on the QSAM Data File Editor. Which provides editing of packed/binary data, search/replace, and standard record edit/navigation features for QSAM files.
