Pinned topic Possible to obtain version of ESQL client API at runtime?

‏2013-03-13T09:39:58Z |
I have a database driver that connects to different versions of an Informix database using ESQL. This is compiled using version 3.50 of the Informix tools. Is it possible to find out, using the ESQL API, which version is being used at runtime?

    Hi,

no API required for this, you can use simple SQL -> check out dbinfo version call.

    Hi Andreas,

I think this only can be used to retrieve the version of the database. I'm interested in the version of the client software. CSDK 3.50 or 3.70, etc...

I don't think any form of SQL will work because the server has no knowledge of which client is connecting to it, right?
