    Hello

As you get the result from your command, agent could get data from active database. If there's no active database, agent will show the SQL1611W. When you run connect database command, agent gets data and display data on TEP. When you run db2 terminate command in the same command line, the back-end process - connect database is terminated. So there's no active database now and agent show the SQL1611W. You could run db2 list active database follow the db2 terminate in the same command line window, you would get the SQL1611W also.

      Hello Chang,

I don’t have detail knowledge on DB2 database, so let me put my question in non technical terms.
I want to DB2 Database monitoring agent to monitor a particular (DB instance) and for that I think I have to open a dedicated connection so Agent can monitor DB instance even if there is no other active connection to this DB instance.
If I am wrong, please correct me and tell me how to get rid of Error: ‘1611w No data was returned by Database System Monitor’

        Hello

Yes, you are right. Please make sure your DB is active(connected) and agent could monitor it.

sounds like a permission issue. which user is running you db2 agent? root?
    take a db2admin account

I have verified there is no permission issue, DB2Admin user is running my Agent.
