Pinned topic WTX and DB2 on MVS : how can we use a BLOB column

‏2013-03-12T08:20:56Z |
Good morning,

I'm currently on a project where I need to write to a DB2 table which has a BLOB column.

Each time the map is run, no matter how big the data we get an error :

DSNT404I SQLCODE = 238, WARNING: SQLDA INCLUDES 0 SQLVAR ENTRIES, BUT 20 SQLVAR ENTRIES ARE NEEDED FOR 10 COLUMNS
BECAUSE AT LEAST ONE OF THE COLUMNS BEING DESCRIBED IS A LOB

And the map ends with a "target not available" message, with the "detailed" error code of 1037 "table not accessible" for the considered card.

DB2 documentation says there is a "prepare" statement but this can only be used in a program and not dynamically, so my guess is that I can't use a DBQUERY to prepare my insertion ?

WTX says nothing about BLOBs, and I dunno if it means they are unsupported or something else.

If you have any experience of these columns with WTX, I'd appreciate to hear from you !

    Good morning,

just a quick update: after opening a PMR, we got the answer that we need to use ODBC to connect to the DB, in order to get access to BLOB columns.

Documentation is not very clear (the DB/2 MVS adapter manual has nothing to say about blobs, but the ODBC version of the manual mentions them) on this subject.

    Cheers !
