Pinned topic Data Studio 3.2 AIX - Config Problem

‏2013-03-11T12:26:05Z |
Hello guys,
I´ve installed IBM DSWC 3.2 - AIX 6.1
The installation has finished well, no problems.
But I can´t configure the product.
When I try to run ./ConfigDSWC , the following is displayed :

Configuring IBM Data Studio web console...
Following command completed with error code 13:
/opt/IBM/DSWC3.2/dca/dca_dswc -ssi /opt/IBM/DSWC3.2/.control/dswcSsi.xml
Configuration of "IBM Data Studio web console" failed. Exit code: 130
Refer to the log file "/opt/IBM/DSWC3.2/logs/dswcConfig0.log" for more information.

And now the log content :

So for now I can start the service, but I don´t have the admin passoword. Also I don´t have the port numbers to the service, I´d like to change it, but there is no dialog prompting me to change.

Tks.

    Hi

I am not sure what this config error message is about ( I am hoping others can provide some clarity here as to the root cause).

But - perhaps I can help you with your follow up questions on setting the admin credentials and port numbers.

Make sure to stop the server fist.

run commands with a userID that has write privileges on the installation directory - ideally as the same user who installed it )

    1). For setting/resetting credentials:

run bin/init.sh adminuserName cleartext_password (this command will automatically encrypt the password )

    or an alternative is here:
    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/dstudio/v3r2/topic/com.ibm.datatools.web.admin.access.doc/topics/def_admin_user.html
(- you encrypt the credential separately and then set it)

2). For changing port numbers -
    edit Config/dswebserver.properties
    example entries:
port=3223 <<=== http port number. Setting to -1 will disable it
https.port=3221 <<=== https port number. Setting to -1 will disable it (make sure that at least one of http or https is present
status.port=3222 <<=== this is an internal port used by that instance's bin/ status.sh and stop.sh scripts (port is local bound & not accessible outside of that host)

If Config/dswebserver.properties itself does not exist because of this configuration failure - then run init.sh as mentioned earlier - that should generate a default version.

Then start the server via bin/start.sh

    Hello,
    Thanks for your reply.
I did steps 1 and 2, and it was OK.
I could reach the admin logon page. But when I enter the credentials using "admin" and "password" (password which I encrypted in step1) a message pops up and I can´t enter the tool.

    Error 404: SRVE0295E: Error reported: 404

    Any clue ?
    Thanks.

Another info : If I enter the wrong password, it says correctly that it´s wrong. So, the password is being checked.

Error code 13 suggest that there was problem reading/accessing a file.
Did you try to run "../bin/config_DSWC" command as root?

If the command was run as root, it is possible that permissions/attributes on
some of the files were not set correctly after install (file lay down) was done.
    That may give this error.

Try to configure DSWC with debug mode:

    config_DSWC -loglevel 2

If the config still fails, please attach all the "dswcConfigX.log" files and I will try to help.

    I have a similar problem

I installed the product as root ( i.e. using sudo command )
but when the installation finished, I requested to run the config program next but it did not work,
after wards, I tried different executables in the bin folder but none work correctly

Re: Data Studio 3.2 AIX - Config Problem

Error code 13 suggest that there was problem reading/accessing a file.
Did you try to run "../bin/config_DSWC" command as root?

If the command was run as root, it is possible that permissions/attributes on
some of the files were not set correctly after install (file lay down) was done.
    That may give this error.

Try to configure DSWC with debug mode:

    config_DSWC -loglevel 2

If the config still fails, please attach all the "dswcConfigX.log" files and I will try to help.

    Hello,

I´ve tried to run config_DSWC again and the same error was returned.
    Attached is the loglevel 2.
I´m running all commands as root.

    Thanks.

The message Error 404: SRVE0295E: Error reported: 404 may imply that some files are missing (i.e. install itself had issues)

Could you zip up the entire logs/ directory and attach it here (or - if you prefer - you can email it to me -- my address is the same as my developer works ID).

It may also be best to open a PMR with IBM support - so that they can help you upload the relevant diagnostics more securely & confidentially.

    Hi
From your logs I do see that the server started up just fine (after you set things up manually using init.sh & edited Config/dswebserver.properties)

I do see an error with accessing the /datatools URL in logs/dsserver.log

    err Unknown OSGi URL: /datatools

This may be because of a missing parameter in the Config/dswebserver.properties file urlroot=datatools that the config tool usually sets. However - this parameter should not be needed at all.

Can you try the following URL - directly ?

    http://localhost:11080

    • i.e. without the /datatools suffix ?

Once things work ok - and you want to bring back the /datatools context -- please add urlroot=datatools to the Config/dswebserver.properties & restart.

    All logs attached.
    Thanks.
This problem may also be related to missing RPMs on AIX.
These RPMs are required by IM (Installation Manager).

    Please try these steps:

    1. Check the last log file in "<DSWC install dir>/workspace/.matadata/.log" dir.

    2. See if the log file contains this error:

ava.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Could not load SWT library. Reasons:
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Could not load SWT library. Reasons:
    /home/dasusr1/IBM/DSWC3.2/dca/configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/bundles/58
/1/.cp/libswt-pi-gtk-3659.a (A file or directory in the path name does
    not exist.)
    swt-pi-gtk (Not found in java.library.path)
/tmp/swtlib-64/libswt-pi-gtk-3659.a (A file or directory in the path
    name does not exist.)

    3. If this error exists then some RPMs must be installed. The process is documented here:

    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21427069

Please let us know if it works.

Now it worked fine without the URL context 'datatools'.
I´ve used datatools ´cause the manual says so.

Just for curiosity, I´ve added the line urlroot=datatools to the dswebserver.properties and now the URL works pretty well.

sriram, thanks so much for your attention.

    Best Regards,
    Eduardo Pimenta
