Pinned topic DataPower Restarting - Throttler Issue..

‏2013-03-07T23:55:14Z |
We are getting this error in our DataPower Audit Logs.

20130307T041250Z sysfailure (SYSTEM:default:*:*): Throttler forced system reload due to Low Memory
20130307T041252Z confsuccess (SYSTEM:default:*:*): ssh 'SSH Service' - Operational state down
20130307T041324Z syssuccess (SYSTEM:default:*:*): Booting device serial #XXXXXXX DPOS running 1.1, installed 1.1
20130307T041324Z syssuccess (SYSTEM:default:*:*): Booting product id XXXXXX revision 0001 firmware XI52.5.0.0.0
20130307T041324Z syssuccess (SYSTEM:default:*:*): Booting build XXXXX on 2012/06/19 15:40:44 count 117. Uptime 12579

Here are the Throttle Settings

Memory Throttle At - 20%
Memory Terminate At - 5%
Temp File Space Throttle At - 0%
Temp File Space Terminate At - 0%

It tells that because of Low Memory it's happening but not sure which domain and which service is causing the issue.

How can we find the root cause?

Thanks
RG

Not sure which firmware you are using, but on 4.0.* to find the memory used by services or domains you can search for "memory", and will find "Domains Memory Usage" and "Services Memory Usage". Probably, this might be helpful to find the root cause.

You need to have the error-report generated prior to reload of the memory. Most of the cause of OOM exception reason is available in error-report and you may want to open the PMR for indepth anaylsis

Thanks Guys, I tried to read error report. Will open an PMR too.

Another question, Is it possible to configure box such way that it only reboot the domain whch has caused Low Memory instead of rebooting the whole DP box?

"Is it possible to configure box such way that it only reboot the domain whch has caused Low Memory instead of rebooting the whole DP box?"

I think what you mean to say to restarting the domain and in this it will be reboot of whole appliance. In other words all previous caches will be removed from all the domains

No, I mean that I don't want that DataPower box get rebooted when Low Memory Issue happen. I want that the domain that causing the trouble should only get restarted so that other domains keep working. Example, I have domain1 & domain2. If domain1 has caused the issue, that should only get restarted, not the whole DP box.

    Rohit,
    Unfortunately, DataPower can't do that.

    HI Rohit,
Check the Throttle settings. If the system has a Throttle in place, the high memory usage (load) might be causing the throttle to refuse connections. On the menu, select Administration >Device > Throttle Settings to view any active throttles.
