Pinned topic Question about CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Developer Trial, Version 4.

‏2013-03-06T15:49:59Z |
We are running CICS TS 3.2 in production and have just installed CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Developer Trial, Version 4.2 with the understanding that the product is not to be used to perform any
production work. We are now looking at the implementation of the Developer Trail on our production system and are stuck on the requirement for the higher level of SDFHLPA be in LPA replacing the 3.2
version currently installed. Our concern is of licensing; is it a violation of the agreement to not use CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Developer Trial, Version 4.2 for production work if our CICS 3.2 production regions are using the 8 LMODs contained in SDFHLPA and required to be LPA resident? The 8 LMODS are:
DFHCSVC
DFHDSPEX
DFHDUMPX
DFHIRP
DFHSSEN
DFHSSGC
DFHSSWT
DFH99SVC

Thanks in advance for your help.

Many thanks for your question re the use of the CICS Developer Trial, which is intended purely for evaluation purposes. Please note that the CICS TS 4.2 Developer Trial licence states that the 'Licensee is not authorized to use any part of the Program for any other purposes without acquiring the appropriate production entitlements' and also that the CICS TS 4.2 Developer Trial Infocentre states that the 'CICS TS Developer Trial 5.1 must not be installed in the same LPAR as any of your production systems. Use of CICS TS Developer Trial 5.1 in a production LPAR is a breach of the evaluation licence'.
