Pinned topic What is the KeyGUID versus GUID field?

‏2013-03-04T18:02:21Z |
I started noticing the KeyGUID field along with the GUID field when exporting definitions. Anybody know what this extra field is for? I assumed it was an enhancement that would allow us to change the name of the activity prior to import, and was using the KeyGUID instead of the activity name to key off of - but it still doesnt work.

I have noticed this also. The KeyGUID seems to be the same as the GUID and from my observation is only used in DoDAF 2. However you will also notice that the KeyGUID is used, together with the object name, to reference related objects. I can't offer much more that this ATM.

Thanks - on some occasions, I imported a list of objects without the KeyGUID and new objects were created with seperate KeyGUID from the GUID were assigned. It was a small headache deleting the redundant objects.

Interesting. I haven't seen that behaviour yet, but I always delete all the GUID and date fields before re-importing any definitions as a matter of process, and to avoid any issues with GUID's etc. Will have to play some more...
