Pinned topic Can you set an XIO preference on the client side?

‏2013-02-27T18:41:22Z |
Hello,

I am migrating to 8.6.x from the 7.1.x version of WXS. With that said, it appears that XIO is the preferred communication option to use going forward as the orb based approach is now deprecated.

With that said, when using a non IBM JDK based client, it appears that the IBM orb jars (ibmcfw.jar,ibmorb.jar,ibmorbapi.jar) are still required. If my grid will be using XIO, is there a setting I can use on the client side that would eliminate these jars from being a runtime dependency?

Thanks,

Joshua

    Joshua,

The IBM orb jars should no longer be required if you are using the eXtremeIO (XIO) protocol instead of the ORB. There was a problem if you were using the ogclient.jar specifically where ibmcfw.jar was needed when using a non IBM JDK. This problem was resolved in version 8.6.0.1 with APAR PM78470.

I hope that fixes your issue.

    Jared,

I was unaware that this was considered a bug. I will check it out in 8.6.0.1 now, thanks.
