We have a blog posting in our Fortran Cafe that discusses this topic, and covers both XL C/C++ and XL Fortran - https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/blogs/b10932b4-0edd-4e61-89f2-6e478ccba9aa/entry/security_stack_protection_in_xl_compilers17?lang=en

Do you have specific technical questions?

Also, there is a more technical discussion on stack smashing in general on Dr'Dobbs. The focus on the gcc implementation but the general approach used by XL C/C++ for AIX, and XL Fortran for AIX is the same: http://www.drdobbs.com/security/anatomy-of-a-stack-smashing-attack-and-h/240001832

Thanks you, that was interest. But i search the same documentation for PowerPC.
I want to known if SSP on x86/Linux is exactly same technical functionnality on PowerPC/AIX. Can i activate SSP if i compile with gcc (-fstack-protector option) or if i must use Xlc Propolice option?
