Pinned topic Transaction Tracking report does not work

Hello,

I can't managed to obtain Transaction tracking report via cicspa verison 3.2. Performance reports working fine and giving output correctly with my smf110 data. When the transaction tracking report is submitted report works ends up with RC=08 (CPA0229I CICS PA has completed processing, RC=8) and output is empty. Do you have Any recommendation about it?

    Hello,

    CPA0229I means CICS PA encountered a problem while producing the reports. What version of CICS TS are you running?

    If you are running at CICS TS v4.2 or above then the Transaction Tracking reports should work. The Transaction Tracking reports
    were provided via a PTF to CICS PA 3.2. Check that you have the latest service applied. In particular, make sure that you have the
    PTF for APAR PM43008 applied. This PTF provided toleration and exploitation in CICS PA 3.2 for CICS TS 4.2. This included the support
    for Transaction Tracking reports.

        By the way, initially there was no CICPA32.HDB.REGISTER data set so job complained about it. Then i created a emtpy sequential CICPA32.HDB.REGISTER data set and run the job.

          What is the point of origin for your transactions. We need to establish whether there is any Transaction Tracking data on the monitoring record. Depending on the point of origin, there may not be any data for CICS PA to report on.

            Hi Satish,

            Actually we have some TOR and AOR regions so i expect to see that transaction flow at least. Should i make any tunning on monitoring record to obtain Transaction tracking data? What i use is the same smf data which i already use to obtain performance summary and wait analysis reports

              There is no specific tuning or configuration you need to do to get the Transaction Tracking data. If you use the CICS Explorer, can you first confirm that you are seeing the Task Association data in the Task Association view. First select a Task in a TOR or AOR, right mouse click and select Search -> Associated Tasks. The PH count metrics are in the Task Association view, The PH counts and other related metrics are what you would also see in the PA reports.

              If the CICS PA Transaction Tracking List and Summary reports are still failing then please send us the complete job output for these.

                Hi Satish,

                I'm on V5.1 and was reading through this thread. Do I have to run a specific report on the MF to see these under Explorer. IOW, not avaliable from a historical database?

                  Kevin, I think that Satish was suggesting was that you use the CICS SM Operation view called Task Associations to verify that the origin data was being collected successfully - though CICS TS only shows you that information for active tasks. I believe the original intent was that it would help with complex suspended or long-running tasks.

                  What usage scenarios can you think of where having a historical view of this data in the CICS PA plug-in would be useful?

                    I'm not sure that I can think of a reason having a historical view of that data. But, I couldn't see "Task Association" anywhere under Explorer. But, in your answer, you mention "Operations View*....us poor lowly programmer types don't get to see Operations Views here.

                      The TASK Association view is part of the BASE CICS Explorer, you do not need to load any CICS PA data into DB2 to get this. In the SM perspective, if you select a CICS region in a CICSPlex, then select the TASK view, select ant task in the TASK view, right-mouse click and select Search -> Associated Tasks.

                Actually we do not store monitoring data on db2 so can not use cics explorer for this purpose. Instead of db2 we store the data on tape then take a dump for a specific date and use that smf data set on report job.

                I'm able to see the associted tasks via cics explorer. You can see the screen view as attachment.

                  Looking at the joblog you sent, I see the following errors:

                  CPA0329E Dictionary returned error on Field ID DFHCICS T361 from module CPATTLMF/TTLS0001
                  CPA0329E Dictionary returned error on Field ID DFHCICS C360 from module ðð—õì&}/TTSU0001

                  Discussing these with CICS PA development.

                    CICS PA development have confirmed that Field C360 is OAPPLID and T361 is OSTART. Both are needed
                    to generate the List and Summary Tracking reports.

                    Please check your MCT to make sure you are not excluding these from your CMF record.

                    If you have not excluded the originating transaction fields from the MCT, then we'll need to have
                    a look at the SMF data and possibly the Dictionary record(s).
