Pinned topic any way to configure storage ?

‏2013-02-15T19:30:57Z |
Hi all.

I have received this week a new Bladecenter S 8886.
setup is ok for IP and AMM but RAID Ctrl Mod still turn on warning. So Start Now Advisor refuse to proceed further.

it looks like some of my disks are not reconized, even after last firmware upgrade (ibm_fw_bcsw_s0cl-1.2.4.011)
don't know what to do now.
Any tips apreciated.

    Dear Dominique,

now you must update HDDs firmware. Use non-concarent update mode as described in readme file for last firmware upgrade (ibm_fw_bcsw_s0cl-1.2.4.011).

Thank you Alexander, but that's what I have done the first time.
If I try again the update script tell me that there is nothing more to update.

      regards

        Dominique,

it means that concurrent mode has been used. But you must use non-concurrent update mode as described in readme file for last firmware upgrade (ibm_fw_bcsw_s0cl-1.2.4.011).

OK, thank Alexander for pointing this.

I have done a new firmware upgrade with -n and controller in servicemode and that gives me
          ************************************************************
          • Non-Concurrent Raid ctlr firmware update NOT REQUIRED *
          ************************************************************
          ************************************************************
          • SUCCESSFUL Non-Concurrent Disk drive firmware update ! *
          ************************************************************

So hopefully drive are now reconized.
I still have an critical alert that says

Forget about using SNA. It's broken with the latest firmware revisions for the AMM. No support for the 62x versions. Additionally, we have found the following to be true.

            1. Lack of CIOv support for SAS expansion cards they are not recognized in Blade Servers. HS22, HS23, HS23, and Power 7
            a. Stops configuring onboard storage.
            b. CFFv is no longer used on current blades blades and SNA only supports CFFv
            2. No HS23 and HS23E Blade Server support at all.
            3. No RSSM firmware update support.
            4. Pre-req checking should be done Before user enters all information into multiple screens, rather than at the end.
            5. SNA BC-S Chassis discovery takes too long to discover.
            6. Unable to access SAS RAID Controller Modules randomly for no valid reason.
            7. If SNA uses xml files for firmware updates, some updates are missing these files on the IBM Fix Central Support website.

I would recommend that you do not use SNA and instead use SCM, the AMM Configuration Wizard, or the command line interfaces to configure your BC-S.

            Good luck.

Have you tried to reseat the media tray? or powercycling the RSSM to see if it still exists?
