Pinned topic How to make Data Stage bring records with NULLs from a sequential file.

‏2013-02-15T18:12:59Z |
Hello,

I'm trying to import data from a sequential file (csv). The problem is that Data Stage will only import the records that a value in every column.

The 8.5 Director log says this:
AOS_CSV,0: Field "TIME_SAVINGS" has import error and no default value; data: {0d}, at offset: 98

The 8.7 Director log says this:
AOS_CSV,0: Delimiter for field "RESOLVED" not found; input: <empty>, at offset: 93

I tried specifying a NULL field value, and I tried pretty much all of the Final Delimiter Options.

Here is a look at a line of data with nulls:

Session ID, User ID, User Name, Status, Start Date, Duration, ICN, PMR Number, Resolved, Will Use Again, Time Savings
390899,xxxx_xxxxx@uk.ibm.com,xxxx xxxx,Productive,01/27/2013 10:21,127,99999,"99,999,999,999",,,

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Neil

    Hi,

DataStage is absolutely capable of accepting an empty string in a CSV. Did you set the Field Default quote value to 'double'? This will allow reading of the PMR field with the imbedded commas.

    Regards,
