Pinned topic Extra characters at start of saved text() box

‏2013-02-11T14:19:14Z |

A script outputs a list of IDs (CSV format) to a text() box:
on Windows XP, I right-click inside the text() box and do a save-as:
but in the resulting text file, there are extra characters at the start of the file.
Example: My text box displays a string that starts as "155,156,..."
But the text file dump shows three extra characters EF BB BF as below:

0x00000000: EF BB BF 31 35 35 2C 31 35 36 2C 31 35 37 2C 31 "...155,156,157,1"

Anyone know why this would be happening?

(When I import this file into another script that uses the smartCsvParser utility that is out there, it misses the first ID (155) due to this issue.)

I think Unicode BOM is your answer.
