I bought a few of these 43W4068 SAS Connectivity Card (CIOv)for the HS22 and I was looking in redbooks and the picture shows the card as having a heatsink but these do not.
I was thinking maybe they didn't need the heatsink but the attach points are still on the card. Is this a manufacturing issue or do these not need the heatsinks anymore?
Here is the link to redbooks

Re: HS22 SAS Connectivity Card missing heatsink? 43W40682013-02-05T18:28:56Z in response to SystemAdminI found two seperate FRUs for this card, one for the HS22 and one for the HS23 so maybe the HS22 required the sink for cooling whereas the HS23 doesn't need it for cooling or perhaps it is a space issue.
Re: HS22 SAS Connectivity Card missing heatsink? 43W40682013-03-15T20:51:15Z in response to SystemAdminThere was an issue indentified with the original design. The heatsink was busting the contacts on the ICB board underneath, so it was removed. I have had the same issue. All my original cards have it, the others only have the bracket. I was told this was the answer to the issue. I proposed that maybe it was over engineered to begin with. LOL!
