Pinned topic Error while installing WAS 7.0 on AIX OS

‏2013-02-01T17:14:12Z |
Hi All,

I am trying to install IBM WAS 7.0 on AIX 7.1 OS. I tried installing through GUI and silent mode. In both cases, i am getting "NIFRegistry file does not exist under location: file:///usr/.ibm/.nif/.nifregistry" . Installation is carried through root user only.. Please suggest some possible solutions for the above issue asap. For more information, i am attaching a sample log file which contains the error. Thanks in advance..
Thanks,
Pavan A

    Check your installation media once
    Are they AIX related software?

      Also
There are some space related errors in the error logs
      Check your system space

        Hi Srinivas,

We have sufficient disk space under / mount point and /tmp. There seems to be no disk space problem. Also i downloaded the proper version of IBM WAS 7.0 Software on AIX OS.

We already have setup this in two environments successfully without any problems.I referred this link to download the software.

re: the mystery free space error, any chance you have GNU df ahead of the AIX df in your PATH? I've seen this cause the installer fail on AIX because it cannot parse the free space output.

PATH is a native environment variable that most operating systems use to search for executables.

    Hi,

You should really not be installing the product as root. That is a big no no. In any event a few things to check. In most cases this is a permissions issue. Make sure that the mount point that you are trying to install the product in has the correct userid/group and have readable/writeable permissions. Do the same for the original directory which the mount point will use. You may want to try to install the product without the GUI, as I have seen sometimes issues with the GUI install and permissions. There are some difference too depending how AIX is setup, like in a WPAR. Please check here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/search.wss?rs=180&tc=SSEQTP&q=AIX71Cert .

    Regards,
    Brian

    Hi all,

Finally this issue is resolved and now i am able to install WAS ND 7.0 on AIX without any errors.. Everytime install script was calculating for disk space and user permissions. After disabling calculate disk space parameter to false, install script went through successfully.
Thanks all for your valuable comments.
