Pinned topic 3650 M2 possible false drive alerts

‏2013-01-31T15:57:49Z |
Currently I am seeing an issue on 2 of my 3650 M2 where the IMM is sending the following

The Drive "Drive 5" has been disabled due to a detected fault
The Drive "Drive 5" has been disabled due to a detected fault
The Drive "Drive 5" has been enabled
The Drive "Drive 5" has been enabled

Problem is that there is neither a logical or physical Drive 5 on the server. The event seems to happen after a reboot of the server. The other server has a different drive give the warning but still doesn't exist anywhere in the configuration. Both servers have the ServeRAID MR 10i SAS/SATA controller. The error is being generated by the IMM, not MegaRAID manager.

Thanks for your help
Brent

    Hi Brent,

From experience "ghost" messages usually mean there's a firmware update to be applied.

Hop over to the support site, http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/ , if you're unsure whether you're on the latest level.

If you're not using IBM Systems Director or Update Express .. try using IBM Dynamic Systems Analysis with a the latest Update Express pack for your server. The portable edition is also very good if you're wary of installing anything on the server itself.

    Regards,
    Richard
