Pinned topic SPSS Client Error

‏2013-01-23T16:35:05Z |
I am using IBM SPSS Statistics 19 licensed to my university. When trying to open any spss file, I receive the following error message:

<< SPSS Client Error:
Exception thrown by "main".
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
com.spss.charteditor.resources.LabelsBundle >>

I am far away from the university for field work. Could you please help me fixing the problem ?

Obviously something is missing. One thought would be to check your output and user interface language settings in Edit > Options > General

Did you check your user interface and output language settings as I suggested?

I am wonderring whether I rightly stated my problem. I cannotopen neither the spss data editor, nor my output and syntax files. So impossible for me to access the spss menu.

That is a little different from what you said originally. Your SPSS installation appears to be corrupted or was never installed correctly. You will need to remove it using the Control Panel/Add Remove Programs and reinstall.

Thanks Jon. That was my fear because it's complicated for me to reinstall the program while I am away from the university.
