Pinned topic Repository from CQ web is not visible

‏2013-01-22T09:37:00Z |
HI,

After moving rational clearquest database to a new location (via oracle export), I have updated the connection from Maintenance tool and testing all my works on windows client and everything works fine.
But when i logged in to CQ web I am unable to see the repository to login.

I tried few options after finding few tech notes but none of them help me, so awaiting a help from you.

CQ version 7.1.1

Thanks,
Arunodaya.

Have you updated the repository (i.e. the dbset) connection on the web server?
CQ web relies on the Maintenance Tool instance installed on the web server in order to retrieve the connection parameters.
Remember that the Maintenance Tool data are local: they are written in the registry of the machine were the Maintenance Tool is installed (or on the filesystem, if the machine OS is Unix-like).
So, if you updated the connection on your client but not on the CQ web server, CQ web is not able to access the migrated schema repository.
Also, after the connection update, a restart of CQ web might be necessary.

The application server logs should be in \Program Files\IBM\RationalSDLC\common\CM\profiles\cmprofile\logs\server1\

Are you running CQ web using a dedicated account? If so, try logging in as that account and updating the db connection(s) for that account.

What account do you use to run WAS? Please check it in Services, "Log on As" field.
If it is local system account (that is used by default), shutdown WAS and delete the following registry key
    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Rational Software\ClearQuest

If you are running WAS under different user account, use its SID instead of "S-1-5-18" and delete correspondent ClearQuest key.

Restart WAS, and you should be able to see all DBSets you configured.

Pavel, i did as you suggested but still no luck.

Stopped WAS (running as 'Local system Account')
Deleted 7.0.0 and Database node from HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Rational Software\ClearQuest.
Restart WAS and update Connection from maintenance tool.

Now i logged in to CQ web but no repository found, please help if someting missed out.

Is there an antivirus running on the system preventing registry update?
Please try to stop it and re-configure ClearQuest connection.

Yes, anti-virus was running and which i stopped now.
When I deleted the key as you suggested it got deleted from HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Rational Software\ClearQuest, so my doubt here i have deleted the key 7.0.0 as well, is this OK, will it create all the nodes once i update the connection from maintenance tool?

One tech note (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21376001)where it mentioned like below but my registry missing all those now---
    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Rational Software\ClearQuest\<version>\Core\Databases

... where version is either 2003.06.00 or 7.0.0. See if there is a key for the newly added databases. If not, login as a Windows administrator to remove and re-add the repository in the Maintenance Tool of the Web server.

Local System account is using .Defaults, and there should be no "Database" key under Rational Software\ClearQuest\7.0.0 (for 7.1.1).
You can re-configure connection and verify (verify only, do not delete) that required database set exists in the HKEY_LOACL_COMPUTER, i.e.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Rational Software\ClearQuest\Software\Core\Databases
You might need to restart CCWeb, but you should see all connections after that.

The problem is that starting 2003.06.00 ClearQuest checks configured connections on the user level first, and if found, user level eclipses system level configuration. When connection is configured using maintenance tool, both user and system level is updated (local administrator rights are required), but it updates user settings for current user only.

    Pavel,

I reboot the server once now.
First i tried to update the connection but i saw only MASTER database listed and production database is missing under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Rational Software\ClearQuest\Software\Core\Databases", so i delete the connection from maintenance tool and import it.
verify under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...both MASTER and PRODUCTION database listed.

Restart CQ Web but no luck same again..repository missing.

    Awaiting your response.

    Regards
    Arunodaya.

    Arunodaya,

It is strange. Something wrong with the registry settings.
As a workaround, you can create a new local account, and start IBM WebSphere under the new account (change it in the services configuration, "Log on" tab).

I suggest you open a PMR with IBM Rational if that is an option for you.

It is my test server so i can do anything.

    Thanks

    Arunodaya,

If you do not have other options, it worth to try.
You can uninstall ClearQuest, remove Rational Software registry entries on the Local Machine and User levels, reboot and re-install software. Unless it is damaged beyond repair, it should help.
