Pinned topic ClearQuest - Display defects tree

‏2013-01-21T13:03:13Z |
Hello everybody
My company uses ClearQuest for customers relationship requests management.
So we add :
1) Ticket aaa for FEASABILITY STUDY
2) Ticket bbb for QUOTATION STUDY ( if aaa is accepted )
3) Ticket ccc for CHANGE REQUEST ( if bbb is accepted )

This tickets can be linked to others.

Then ticket ccc status is changing all along the project evolution :
  • functionnal study status
  • technical study status
. . .

I would like to get the list starting from aaa.

Example : the change request is related to 3 applications
aaa - FEASABILITY STUDY
bbb - QUOTATION STUDY linked to aaa
ccc - CHANGE REQUEST for application_1 linked to bbb
ddd - CHANGE REQUEST for application_2 linked to bbb
eee - CHANGE REQUEST for application_3 linked to bbb

Only ccc status will change.
Thks for help.

It is not clear what you mean by 'get the list', such as displaying the list on one of your record forms, or do you want to obtain the list from a query.

Either way, you can use the references from one record to another to access fields on the referenced record(s). It is not clear from your submission which record is the parent and which is the child. If FEASABILITY STUDY contains a REFERENCE to a QUOTATION STUDY, and QUOTATION STUDY contains a REFERENCE_LIST to CHANGE REQUEST, then you can list the information for each CHANGE REQUEST from either the QUOTATION STUDY record or from the FEASABILITY STUDY.

You can also define the reference fields to use a BACK_REFERENCE so that you can traverse the information in either direction, regardless of which record is parent or child.

    Thanks for your respons,
In fact, I would like to export in Excel all linked tickets ( Tab : "Linked items" ), to build something like a tree af my tickets like follow :

    • Defect xxxx : origin of the work; posted by customer
Faisability study : a "light" quotation, posted by IT service provider
Quotation : precise quotation, posted by IT service provider
Change request : ok let's go, , posted by customer

    • Defect yyyy
    Faisability study
    Quotation
    Change request

    ... etc ...

You can export it, or you can build a report using data-pull model and Crystal or BIRT.
