Pinned topic Str function length argument

The Str function length argument is Str(Boss,12,8),could gurus clarify me that 12 is entire length and 8 is decimal point.Should we count the number from left to right or other way around and includes the decimal point.Thanks

    Barrysb,

    The syntax of STR() which you have mentioned in your post is not correct. The correct syntax is:

    STR(number, length, decimal)

    where number is what you want to convert to String
    length is the total number of digits in the number (excluding decimal point and it start from left to right)
    decimal is number of decimal places to include as the result of this function.

    The detail on these simple TM1 functions is available in the TM1 manuals. Please refer to the manual before posting.
