Pinned topic gmon install errors in AIX 7.1

‏2013-01-18T17:10:06Z |
I get one or the other of two errors on all my AIX 7.1 systems when I install. All are aIX 7100-01-04-1216.
First error I get is:

  1. rpm -i gmon-711-1.aix7.1.ppc.rpm
Killing any running agents ...

Installed
/usr/local/bin/gmonagent711-71
/etc/rc.d/rc2.d/S99gmonagent
Starting agent ...
cannot get shared lock on database
rpmQuery: rpmdbOpen() failed
cannot get shared lock on database
rpmQuery: rpmdbOpen() failed
10420346 vty0 0:00 gmonagent711-71
Finished.

Second error is:

  1. rpm -i gmon-711-1.aix7.1.ppc.rpm
Killing any running agents ...

Installed

/usr/local/bin/gmonagent711-71
/etc/rc.d/rc2.d/S99gmonagent
Starting agent ...
cannot get shared lock on database
rpmQuery: rpmdbOpen() failed
rpm_share: 0645-007 ATTENTION: set_time_token() returned an unexpected result.
cannot get shared lock on database
rpmQuery: rpmdbOpen() failed
9502744 vty0 0:00 gmonagent711-71
Finished.

I get nothing like this on my VIOS gmon installs. The program is working (I see data when I telnet to the port) but are these errors acceptable?

    first of all

    if your aix 7.1 system is a vios system, you must use vios version gmon instead.

    when I install gmonagent on my aix 7.1 environment,
    first, I patch it, now my aix 7.1 is 7100-01-05-1228,
    and then I start gmonagent installation, during my installation, actually I got errors you showed above all.

    when I finished installation, I debug my gmonagent by telnet below:

    telnet IP or servername 15050

    eg: telnet RASAPPRD 15050

    If the installation above is failed, you will get connect fail message, or you wil get a long text message on your terminal window.

    If you get a long text message on your terminal window, that means you succeed!
