Pinned topic How to set variable from a variable resulting from an extract action?

‏2013-01-17T17:57:17Z |
I have a SQL action that pulls out a single row from a DB. I then use an extract action to yank out one of the column values, and put that value into a variable 'var://context/sourceUserName/userNameNode'.

At this point, I have the whole node in the variable:

<value>JOE</value>

I also tried to put this into an output context of the extract action as "userNameNode".

For the next action, I'm using the set-var action and trying to extract the text (JOE) of the variable (or it's input context, which is "userNameNode"). In the probe, I don't see the content of the "userNameNode", so I'm assuming I need to extract it from the content of the 'var://context/sourceUserName/userNameNode' variable. I've been horribly unsuccessful.

See the attached image of the whole policy, and then the settings of the extract and then the set-var actions. I don't know what the set-var action is actually able to see here.

Ideas are appreciated.

Never mind... just wrote an XSLT to do it.

That would have been my suggestion :-)
