Yes we did the upgrade a while ago on three appliances with no issues. You'll want to do the upgrade on a non-production appliance first obviously...

When the release notes link here:
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21609148
starts working again (it may just be me) you really should look at the deprecated features and any of the other links that interest you. In general though no unexpected upgrade issues have been reported yet by clients that I have worked with.

If you do run into issues you are always welcome to open a pmr and I would be glad to help figure out what went wrong and why.

        as always, it depends ;-)

With pre-5.0.0-firmware you get 4GB Total Memory, even on a XI52 (9005 hardware platform):

... Version: XI52.4.0.2.5jv build 219525jv on 2012/10/19 09:01:49 Serial number: 6801610 xi52# show mem Memory Usage: 19 % Total Memory: 4194304 kilobytes Used Memory: 823790 kilobytes Free Memory: 3370514 kilobytes Requested Memory: 1234860 kilobytes Hold Memory: 411070 kilobytes xi52#

With 5.0.0 firmware on a XI50 (9004 hardware platform) you still get 4GB Total Memory:

Version: XI50.5.0.0.4 build 220449 on 2012/11/13 16:54:19 Serial number: 68A1781 xi50# show mem Memory Usage: 11 % Total Memory: 4194304 kilobytes Used Memory: 475218 kilobytes Free Memory: 3719086 kilobytes Requested Memory: 1380376 kilobytes XML Hardware Accelerator Resource Usage: 1 % Hold Memory: 905158 kilobytes Reserved Memory: 3999604 kilobytes Installed Memory: 8193908 kilobytes xi50#

With 5.0.0 firmware on a XI52 (9005 hardware platform, 2U) you will get 78.5GB Total Memory:

Version: XI52.5.0.0.4 build 220449 on 2012/11/13 17:54:25 Serial number: 6802073 xi52# show mem Memory Usage: 3 % Total Memory: 82333842 kilobytes Used Memory: 3005315 kilobytes Free Memory: 79328527 kilobytes Requested Memory: 3685996 kilobytes Hold Memory: 680681 kilobytes Reserved Memory: 16863558 kilobytes Installed Memory: 99197400 kilobytes xi52#

Memory on XG45 (9005 hardware platform, 1U) and blade appliances is lower than 78.5GB with 5.0.0 firmware.
