Pinned topic Rdz for Z/OS Debugging : Passing Values to Variables.

‏2013-01-10T05:02:20Z |
Hi,

I want to pass values to the variables while debugging the program.
Example: Suppose The program has variables VAR1, VAR2 , VAR3 .. VAR10.
I want to pass the values to those variables using dataset or text or csv file.

Could you please let me know how can we do that.

Thanks,
Jemini.

The RDz debugger doesn't currently support what you are trying to do.

The "Debug Console" allows you to import a file that contains commands to be sent to Debug Tool but assigning a value to a variable is not currently supported.

For the list of supported commands, start a debug session and then click in the entry field of the Debug Console view. Press Ctrl + space and a list of commands is displayed.

I suggest opening a RFE to request this feature.

I have also made the Debug Tool team aware of your requirement.

Unless I misunderstand, why not pass them in thru Linkage Section, or add an FD File and read them as input into Working Storage.  See attached file
