Pinned topic Unable to send a message to a remote queue

‏2013-01-08T13:32:39Z |
I'm using two windows machine to send a message from local to a remote queue. Trying the IBM tutorial "Sending a message to a remote queue" and the URL is http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.mq.explorer.tutorials.doc%2Fbi00203_.htm
After the setup is done for both sender and receiver server, Putting a test message on the queue but the message is not at all received by remote queue on the other machine.
Could anyone help me to resolve this or is it required to open the connectivity between sender and receiver windows machine to receive the message on the receiver queue?

Error Logs:
1/8/2013 18:48:27 - Process(6776.1) User(MUSR_MQADMIN) Program(runmqchl.exe)
AMQ9202: Remote host 'in-kamalr (10.24.198.91) (1418)' not available, retry
later.

EXPLANATION:
The attempt to allocate a conversation using TCP/IP to host 'in-kamalr
(10.24.198.91) (1418)' was not successful. However the error may be a
transitory one and it may be possible to successfully allocate a TCP/IP
conversation later.
ACTION:
Try the connection again later. If the failure persists, record the error
values and contact your systems administrator. The return code from TCP/IP is
10060 (X'274C'). The reason for the failure may be that this host cannot reach
the destination host. It may also be possible that the listening program at
host 'in-kamalr (10.24.198.91) (1418)' was not running. If this is the case,
perform the relevant operations to start the TCP/IP listening program, and try
again.

    Hi,

It's a communication problem. Carry out below steps to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. Try to ping machine "in-kamalr (10.24.198.91)" from the machine where you putting the message into queue.
    2. If above step succeeds then try to do "telnet 10.24.198.91 1418" from the machine where you putting the message into queue.
If telnet fails to open a connection, check whether MQ service is running or not in the remote machine and check the remote queue manager is running under port 1418.

If above 2 steps success-ed then cross check the below points

    1. Your sender channel and receiver channel should be having same name.
    2. Check sender channel details is properly entered in the transmission queue properties.
    3. Check remote queue manager name, remote queue name and transmission queue name details entered properly in the remote queue manager properties.

    Hi, Thanks for your response.

Everything was setup properly but firewall was blocking traffic to or from the server. After opening the connectivity I was able to send and receive messages.

    Thanks,
