Pinned topic Automatic Backup not starting with DB 10.1 and DS 3.1.1

‏2012-12-31T14:54:47Z |
Hi experts
I have setup an automatic maintenance backup job, but it is never executed. In the db2diag.log I see the entry when I created the maintenance Job. The parameters AUTO_MAIN and AUTO_DB_BACKUP are ON.
How can I Mmonitor the backup process? Should I see a backup job in the Job Manager? There are no jobs in it.

Thanks in advance
Pijus

    Hi,

in order to enable Automatic Backups, you also need to setup the backup policy.
You can use the DataStudio (replacing Control Center in v10) or using the steps below:

    1-CALL AUTOMAINT_SET_POLICY('AutoBackup','BackupPolicy.xml')
Tip: use XML file DB2DefaultAutoBackupPolicy.xml under $HOME/sqllib/samples/automaintcfg as model for your maintenance window
    2-Setup AUTO_MAINT and AUTO_DB_BACKUP to ON

the XML file is used to define your backup parameters (destination, backup type, etc). Among other things, keep in mind that backup will only be taken if all the conditions are met.

    Regards,
    Wiliam
