Pinned topic WAS7 JMS message backout

‏2012-12-28T12:01:39Z |
Hi

Where is the best place to configure the message backout threshold, WAS or MQ or both?

I have my MQ Q setup (MyQueue > Storage > Backout threshold = x)
And WAS7 (Queues > MyQueue > WebSphere MQ connection properties > WebSphere MQ configuration > Backout threshold = y)

Do x and y need to be the same value? Does one take precedence over the other? Or is the actual threshold x + y?

Thanks!
Mark.

Hi, I would allow WMQ do the work. When WAS has to does does the work, it has to pick up the message and examine the backout count, which is more work on the WAS side, while WMQ interrogates the message upon access and moves it to the backout queue automatically.

    Regards,

    Thanks Brian, good pointer.

To answer my own question, Change it in MQ and WAS reads and displays the value in the admin console.
