We have two DS3524's managed by the same Storage Manager (10.84.G5.30) server. One DS3524 has firmware 7.83.18. The other has firmware version 7.84.44.
Within the Premium Features list, there are some differences between the two units (None of the available premium features have ever been activated on either unit or used in trial mode on either unit).
The unit with older firmware shows Premium Feature options: Enhanced Flash Copy, Enhanced Remote Mirroring, High Performance Tier, Drive Slot Limit, Flashcopy Logical Drive, Storage Partitioning, External Key Management, and Full Disk Encryption.
The one with the new firmware is missing options for Full Disk Encryption, Storage Partitioning, and External Key Management. But it includes Performance Read Cache, Enhanced Global Mirroring, which are missing in the unit with older firmware.
Has anyone else seen this, especially a unit with newer firmware which is missing feature options that are included in a unit with older firmware?
At IBM technical support's advice, I downloaded an activation key file & attempted to activate Full Disk Encryption on the newer unit, despite the fact that the option wasn't present in the Premium Features list. The activation failed with error 554 – “The feature cannot be enabled using a feature key file because it is not keyable”. Still awaiting callback from escalated case, but wondering if anyone else is seeing this.

Re: Premium Features list missing options.2012-12-27T13:50:34Z in response to Novikov_AlexanderThank you, Alexander. From the link you posted, it does appear that - in the 7.84 firmware - FDE should have been included in the base feature package (as it is with earlier firmware revision 7.83), yet it's missing in 7.84. We're having an incredibly difficult time getting Level2 support to contact us.
It's a situation where we have yet to activate FDE on this new SAN, so it's not a situation where we're upgrading a SAN on which FDE has already been activated. We upgraded the firmware first, and then we were going to activate the FDE.
