In planning a tape technology upgrade, we expect to need to copy LTO-4 tapes using LTO-4 drives to LTO-6 tapes in LTO-6 drives. With no matching streaming speed between those two drive types, what copy speed should we expect?

Re: LTO-4 to LTO-6 Copy speeds2012-12-17T16:04:26Z in response to SystemAdminIn a properly configured environment the copy speed should be the transfer speed of the LTO-4 drives (up to 120MB/s). Note that the different speeds are not supposed to be a problem due to the IBM-unique LTO-6 14-speeds speed matching capability that keeps the LTO-6 constantly running at a speed that matches the incoming data rate which should prevent back-hitches that could cause performance degradation.
