Pinned topic Rest Services- Multiple MPGW or single for different category resources

‏2012-12-14T12:05:23Z |
Hi,

We are getting JSON messages(which belong to different category of resources) as input. Do we have single MPGW with different rules for category 1 (all operations get, post etc) and different ones for category 2.

since only url is different and it hits the same service in datapower do we have a router and route to 2 diff MPGW (one for category 1 and one for category 2 ) or do we hit the same MPGW where the match action will have different rules processed. one is the performance impact and another is separating from a category perspective. Is their any recommendation ? Are such category based separations done?

What do you mean by different categories? Do they have different SLAs?

Each category belongs to functional grouping of services, for eg: category 1 can be customer management related services and categroy 2 can be billing related services. SLA will remain same.

Well, if they're in two different business uses, they're likely to have separate release cycles, and you'd want two separate MPGs.

ok thx, but do we do any best practices from the proliferation of services as these can affect performance if the category increases. in a web page multiple categories will easily exist and for each page the no of MPGW will be a lot.

Normally also for a web page hosting multiple web servers is very costly and a single web server with multiple actions r hosted. any similar translation?

Maybe we better start over with a better explanation of what you're trying to do at a high level.
