VIOS 2.2.2.1 (AIX 6100-08-01-1245)

2-port GBit LACP Channel (made up of 802.1q VLAN trunk ports)

both server and switch do "Active" LACP

  • channel forms OK when on Cisco Catalyst switch
  • does NOT form OK on Cisco Nexus Enterprise switch (stays in state "Negotiating" on AIX side, ports go to state "suspended" on switch)
  • channel forms OK on Catalyst and Nexus in non-trunk (access port) config
both sides, switch & vio do send LACPDUs but do not seem to receive LACPDUs

    for the records:
    nexus tagged LACPDUs, non-default native vlan was used
    vio etherchannel takes note of tagged LACPDUs only when tag is 1 (cisco default)
    solved by either set native vlan to 1 on cisco or
    put vlan adapter with native vlan used by nexus on top of LA or SEA on vio and bring up its interface (any or no ip will do)
