Pinned topic Liberty Profile embedded in Java SE app

‏2012-12-12T10:27:16Z |
Hello,

Short question : is it possible (and supported) to run Liberty embedded in a Java SE application ?
If it is : is it documented somewhere (I found nothing on Info Center) ... ?

This is a possibility offered by Jetty and GlassFish and is appealing with small footprint app server like Liberty

Thanks

Seb

    Hello Sebastien,

It is not currently supported but is high on our list of requirements.

    Regards, Alex.

Has there been any progress on this?  We are swapping out our use of jetty for liberty, and we need to test our jersey services - we would like to be able to setUp and tearDown the server in our unit tests.

Ideally a config for using Liberty as an embedded service in Arquillian would be on the task list. Let me know if I should add an RFE for this. Thanks.

    >>An SPI will be provided with GA to start the server within the same process.  Unfortunately, it didn't make it in the beta refresh, so there won't be anything >>to see until GA.

Am assuming you mean 8.5.5 when you say GA ?

    Thx!
