Hello,

Data Studio 3.2 was just released on Friday.

You can access the download page at the following link: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/im/data/

You can see what's new here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27024313

Thank you,

How do you install DSWC 3.2 on Linux?
The only zip file we found is IBMIM_linux.zip which we download but have no idea how to install.

    Thanks

After unzipping the download file, I tried installing DSWC 3.2 using the Installation Manager with the following command:
    /opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse/IBMIM --launcher.ini silent-install.ini -installAll

but failed as per the followings:

To do a silent install (file laydown only) of DSWC, you need to use the "install_DSWC". This command is available in the root directory where the install image is downloaded. The command to install will be like:
install_DSWC -silent -acceptLicense -log someLogFlie -input responseFile.properties

Then to configure the product, "config_DSWC" must be used. This command is available in the "bin" directory under the directory wherer product is installed. The command to configure product will be like:
      <installDir>\bin\config_DSWC -silent -input -input responseFile.properties

Hi, the command to install DSWC is different from the standard Data Studio product. Please refer to this InfoCenter topic on how to install DSWC 3.2 silently.

I downloaded IBMIM_linux.zip and unzipped it. There's no install_DWSC in any of the directories.
Here's what I have in the directory where I unzipped the file to:

There are a few things I'd like to understand before going to the response files:
            1. Your machine is 64 bit correct?
            2. From your original comment, looks like Installation Manager was already installed on your machine at /opt/IBM/InstallationManager correct? Did you install it there yourself? What version?
            3. Can you even bring up Installation Manager itself by executing this command /opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse/IBMIM?

The reason I'm asking all these questions is I want to see if the Installation Manager instance you have on your machine is 32 bit and your machine is 64 bit causing these library loading issues. Anyway, will wait for your answers.

OK I downloaded ibm_dswc320_lin64.zip and unzipped it.
            To install, I issued
            ./install_DSWC but failed as follows:
Installing IBM Data Studio web console...
Environment variable DISPLAY is not defined.
Installation of "IBM Data Studio web console" failed. Exit code: 31
Refer to the log file "/tmp/ibmproduct0.dbtools.log" for more information.

Could somebody send me a sample of the response file so that I can do a silent install.
            Thanks

Usually when I access my linux machine using Hummingbird Exceed or telnet from Windows, I would export my DISPLAY first like this "export DISPLAY=<my IP address>:0.0"

Have you done that? That should help to bring up the GUI.

                I'm using putty, not Hummingbird.

Am I the only one having trouble with this install here?

Unless you have some other setup, putty cannot be used to run a GUI application on a remote machine.
That is why, GTK is showing all the errors.

I am attaching a response file. You can use the same file with install (install_DSWC) and configuration (config_DSWC) commands.
Top three properties in this file are using during install. Rest are used for configuration.

                  Hope it helps.

BTW, a quick way, to ensure that a GUI application can be run on a remote system and the DISPLAY env var is set properly, is to run the "xterm" command. If everything is set properly, a new command-window will be displayed on the local machine.

Just to reiterate mkg1's point, putty alone is not enough to bring up the linux GUI from a remote system. When I use putty to access my linux system, I still need Hummingbird Exceed at the same time.

To run the install silently using the response file mkg1 attached do: install_DSWC -silent -acceptLicense -log someLogFlie -input responseFile.properties.

After the installation succeeds, to configure the product, run: <installDir>\bin\config_DSWC -silent -input -input responseFile.properties
