Pinned topic IBM BigInsights Virtual Machine - Terminal Command Issue

‏2012-12-10T02:35:42Z |
Hi,

I am trying to work on the HDFS Lab exercise from BigDataUniversity.com. When I open my terminal window, I see 'bash-32#' as opposed to 'root@localhost~#'. Thus, I am unable to run any of the commands listed in the lab.

Can you please resolve this issue. I appreciate your help!

Thanks,
Vivek.

    Hi Vivek,

    I think something is wrong with the .bashrc file in the vm, please add below content into your /root/.bashrc file and try again:
    =========================================================
    # .bashrc

    # Source global definitions
    if -f /etc/bashrc ; then
    . /etc/bashrc
    fi

    # User specific aliases and functions
    source /opt/ibm/biginsights/conf/biginsights-env.sh
    =========================================================

      seems some format issue, the content to add should be:
      ============================================
      1. .bashrc

      1. Source global definitions
      if -f /etc/bashrc ; then
      . /etc/bashrc
      fi

      1. User specific aliases and functions
      source /opt/ibm/biginsights/conf/biginsights-env.sh
      ============================================

        Oops, still incorrect format, please refer to the below one. Sorry for the spam...

        # .bashrc # Source global definitions

        if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then . /etc/bashrc fi   # User specific aliases and functions source /opt/ibm/biginsights/conf/biginsights-env.sh
