Pinned topic Coaches in v8

‏2012-12-06T23:57:57Z |
Hi everyone,

I worked in IBM BPM v7.5.1 and now I'm starting work in v8.0 and v8.0.1.
So far I'm reading about the differences between each version, and for me as developer I think one of the biggest is the coach designing.
I read about coaches, heritage coaches and coache views but I was unable to find a good documentation where can explain the differences, advantages, bootlenecks, use cases, etc.

Does anyone can help me?

Thank you,
VF

    Hi there,
That's an awfully big question. Best thing to do is read thoroughly the relevant sections of the InfoCenter on 8.0.1.

The highlights are that in 8.0, the whole Coach UI mechanism was redesign and re-implemented. The original Coach technology was left in place and called "Heritage Coaches". The new technology is based on reusable components called "Coach Views". The primary design paradigm is that of client side rich function widgets that use Ajax and Web 2.0 (primarily Dojo) technologies for presentation. IBM supplies a set of Coach views plus documentation on how customers can write their own assuming that the set of existing coach views are not sufficient. In addition there are a growing set of additional "as-is" Coach Views on the IBM BPM samples pages at the Wiki.

Try the above for starters and if you have specific questions, please don't hesitate to post back.
