Pinned topic Why is defaultServer needed to execute server version?

Hi,

I might've asked the question before, but can't find it in the forum so I assume I haven't. I apologize if repeating.

Why is defaultServer needed to execute server version ?! Is there a way to work it around so the server's not created as I believe all the code's available and no server's really necessary?

$ ./bin/server version WebSphere Application Server wlp-1.0.1.cl0120121004-1949(websphere-kernel_1.0.1) on OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM, version 1.7.0-u10-b09-20121009 jacek:~/apps/wlp $ rm -rf usr/servers/defaultServer jacek:~/apps/wlp $ ./bin/server version Server defaultServer created. WebSphere Application Server wlp-1.0.1.cl0120121004-1949(websphere-kernel_1.0.1) on OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM, version 1.7.0-u10-b09-20121009

I'd say it's a bit weird.
