Pinned topic Problem in adding MSSQL Datasource

‏2012-12-04T09:58:57Z |
Hi Team,

In TBSM, I want to add external mssql data source.

I clicked on data and adding attributes as required. However I am getting error as mentioned below.

Error Details:
CTGBA0024E The test connection was not opened. Reason: com.micromuse.common.datasource.SQLDataSourceException: Could not load JDBC driver for sa at jdbc:sqlserver://10.4.25.104:1433;databaseName=NOCI,sa at jdbc:sqlserver://10.4.25.104:1433;databaseName=NOCI #1756915896: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver

Could someone help me getting out of this.

Regards,
Avinash

It looks like you have ",sa" at the end of your connection string, which isn't correct (AFAIK from a little research) . Remove that and try again.

We can make Tivoli software work for you!

    Hi,

    Thanks for quick response.
However, NOCI is DB name and sa is instance name.

This(,sa) shows up in error only.

Assuming TBSM v6 - did you install the proper JDBC driver for MSSQL? 3rd party vendor drivers are not included out of the box.

    Hi Doug,

Could you please provide path or guide information for installation of drivers for 3rd party vendors tools.

    Hi
I am having the same issue. I downloaded the latest driver from MS with files
    -rw------- 1 bsm tbgroup 584207 Feb 18 2012 sqljdbc4.jar
    -rw------- 1 bsm tbgroup 563117 Feb 18 2012 sqljdbc.jar

I tried each one but got the same error. Your last post said it was all working now - did you do anything else to fix this?
    thanks

    Hello Steve/Parul,

    Hi Parul,

    1) Stop TBSM Dataserver

    2)
Please add below mentioned files on two different paths on TBSM data server.

    Files:-
    a) mssqlserver.jar
    b) sqljdbc.jar
    c) sqljdbc4.jar
    d) sqljdbc4-2.0.jar

    Path:-
    a) /opt/IBM/tivoli/tipv2/profiles/TBSMProfile/installedApps/TBSMCell/TBSM.ear/impactwsn.war/WEB-INF/lib/
    b) /opt/IBM/tivoli/tbsm/dsalib

Note:- Path might differ as per your environment.

    3) Start Data Server

    4) Try connecting now. If still fails, I can share document with which I was succesfuly added the SQL datasource.

    Regards,
    Avinash

    Hi Parul,

I would suggest you to telnet the port number for the server where DB is installed.

I suppose for SQL 1433 port should be opened.
