Pinned topic To dynamically filter reports for three years

‏2012-11-30T17:18:16Z |
Hello!
I am using Cognos 8.4.1 against MSAS cube and I have over 150 reports that need to be filtered for three years from current year goind backward. This cube has years upto 2020 which also is another reason, we need our prompts to show up to current year as well. Since these are hardcoded, we end up manually editing all the reports every end of the year. How can I automate this that comes to 2013, report automatically prompts for 2011, 2012 and 2013 or gets filtered same as that? Attached is one report sample report spec.

    I resolved it with something like below. If someone has a better idea, please share it with me.
    lastPeriods (3,#'Financials.Posting Date.http://Posting Date.Calendar Time.Calendar Year->['+timestampMask

    ($current_timestamp +' 00:00:00.00+00:00','yyyy')+']'#)

    Dear Naya,

    why can't you create a relative time categories in cube? One special categories which will hold "current", "prior", "prior-1" years. Use this in your reports with descender like functions.

    OR

    in report level, also you can achieve by creating a calculated column.

    If you have 150+ reports from one cube, its good practice to create stand alone filters at package level. So each reports can reuse this filters.

    All D Best!!!

    Hi Sandeep,
    This is a MSAS cube. I don't have any control over it. In FWM, you get them only as a package without dimensions etc.
